Exhibits

The sixth basic concept involves Exhibits. There are three types of evidence that can become exhibits:
1. Real evidence (the thing itself having a direct or indirect part in the incident at issue).
2. Demonstrative evidence (a visual aid to understanding testimony or other evidence [model, map, chart, photograph or demonstration]).
3. Documentary evidence (including Writings with independent legal significance [contracts, wills, promissory notes, checks], Business records, and Public records).
The significance of these distinctions will become apparent when we look at foundations for admissibility.
