CNN’s Health section highlights five coping strategies from the Dalai Lama, including being gentle with yourself, making time to reflect, keeping compassion at hand, helping, and being playful.
Jen Christensen writes (excerpt):
First step, work on compassion and start by developing it for yourself [learn more about yourself and embraced yourself as you are]
It’s a lot easier to feel compassion if you take the time to reflect on what you’re experiencing. . . .
If you do feel angry . . . don’t let it dominate your thoughts [keep compassion in mind and surround yourself with compassionate people].
Another key to happiness, His Holiness suggests, is to “try to be of some service to others.”
Finally, be playful and childlike [be honest and accept people].
