The Grand Rapids Pressnotes the passing of former State Bar president, gentleman-litigator and family man Stephen Bransdorfer, at age 77 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Barton Deiters writes (excerpt):
His skill and willingness to serve was recognized by governors, presidents and fellow attorneys, who honored him with appointments and awards, the last being the Roberts P. Hudson Award, the highest honor given by the State Bar of Michigan.

“He was a lawyer’s lawyer,” said James Brady, a former U.S. attorney who worked with Mr. Bransdorfer at Miller Johnson and was also a close friend. “He loved the law and he lived it every day.”

Brady said his friend’s commitment to ethics and honor was present in his professional life and his personal relationships.
